We’ve got some pretty exciting news to share. The 2019 Hyundai Veloster just underwent its crash testing by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and came out the other side with one of the highest commendations it could receive: TOP SAFETY PICK. With eleven vehicles in total on the Hyundai lineup, Veloster marks the eleventh and final model from the brand to earn this designation or the higher TOP SAFETY PICK+. We thought we’d highlight the sporty coupe’s safety ratings & features to celebrate.

How did the Veloster earn this award?

To qualify as a TOP SAFETY PICK, a vehicle must earn the following test ratings:

Driver-side small overlap front: Good
Moderate overlap front: Good
Side: Good
Roof strength: Good
Head Restraints: Good
Passenger-side small overlap front: Acceptable or Good
Front Crash Prevention: Advanced or Superior
Headlight Rating: Acceptable or Good

In addition to hitting these marks, the Veloster earned pretty high ratings on its standard and available forward collision systems thanks to the vehicle avoiding collisions on the test tracks at both 12 and 25 miles per hour.
