How Efficient and Powerful is the New Hyundai Accent?

2020 Hyundai Accent Fuel Economy Ratings & Powertrain Highlights

Cars are not a one-size-fits all endeavor, nor should they be. We all have different driving needs and preferences, and if you are in need of a daily driver that will stretch your fuel dollar to the brink, a compact car is right up your alley. The 2020 Hyundai Accent fits the bill, and if you are wondering just how efficient and powerful this car is, we have you covered. Let’s dig deeper into the 2020 Hyundai Accent fuel economy ratings and powertrain highlights.

Fuel Economy by the Numbers

The 2020 Hyundai Accent is available in three trims: SE, SEL, and Limited. Each trim offers a Smartstream® Intelligent Variable Transmission (optional on the SE), and with this transmission, the Accent can get an EPA-estimated 33 city, 41 highway, and 36 combined miles per gallon. The SE trim is standard with a manual transmission, which is capable of an EPA-estimated 29 city, 39 highway, and 33 combined miles per gallon. Each Accent trim has an 11.9-gallon fuel tank. It is estimated that the 2020 Hyundai Accent can drive for up to 393 miles on a single tank with the manual transmission and 428 miles on a single tank with the Smartstream® Intelligent Variable Transmission.

Horsepower and Torque

You would be forgiven for expecting a car this efficient to barely have any power under the hood, but this is not the case with the 2020 Hyundai Accent. Each 2020 Accent is equipped with a Gamma GDI 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine capable of producing 120 horsepower and 113 lb.-ft of torque. That engine coupled with the front-wheel drive system and the above-mentioned transmission helps ensure a dynamic, peppy, and efficient ride every time you climb behind the wheel.
