What factors determine a vehicle’s TSP rating from the IIHS?
For evaluating a car’s safety, the IIHS offers two categories of awards. TOP SAFETY PICK (TSP) is the first, while TOP SAFETY PICK+(TSP+) is the second. To be qualified for the IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+, vehicles must score well in all six IIHS crash-worthiness tests. The following are some of them:
- Driver-side small overlap front
- Passenger-side small overlap front
- Moderate overlap front
- Side roof strength
- Head restraint tests
Vehicles must also have good or acceptable lighting across all trim levels, as well as a front crash prevention system that obtains advanced or superior ratings in both vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluations.
2022 Hyundai Santa Fe Key Safety Features
