Hyundai has released early images of the interior of the upcoming IONIQ 5, the first vehicle that will be released on the automaker’s new sub-brand dedicated exclusively to electrified vehicles. It will be the first battery-electric vehicle to utilize the company’s new Electric-Global Modular Platform, and we cannot wait to get all the juicy details when it makes its virtual world premiere next week on February 23rd. Until then, we’ll have to make do with the sneak peek we were given at the cabin. Check out the details below!

“IONIQ 5 is a statement of design that offers an optimistic look at what customers can expect in the new EV era. The long wheelbase is translated to a new dimension of space. We designed this special space as a perfect place to recharge, your home away from home.”

What makes up the Living Space?
For starters, Hyundai has come up with a more fitting name for the interior cabin of the IONIQ 5: a living space. The new platform enables the vehicle to be built with a much longer wheelbase and a flattened floor, which sets it apart from other crossover vehicles. One example of how this revolutionizes the interior, is that now you can park in a spot that doesn’t allow you to exit on a certain side of the vehicle without creating hassle for someone sitting on that side. The passenger and driver can exit the vehicle on either side because the flat floor allows the center console to slide back and forth.
The front seats themselves are built with leg rests that allow you and your front passenger to stretch out and relax while your vehicle is being charged. Those seats are even capable of being repositioned so that you can care for children or pets seated in the rear, eliminating so much hassle.
As more information becomes available, we’ll be sure to fill you in right here on our blog, so be sure to check back often for updates. Especially on Feb. 23rd for the virtual debut!
