Criterion for the Motor1.com star award
All new automobiles were evaluated by Motor1.com’s team of specialist editors for the first annual Star Awards. They used a star ranking method to choose contestants for eight prizes. Among the reward categories were Adventure Vehicle, Best Electric Vehicle, Family Vehicle, Luxury Vehicle, Best Performance Vehicle, Best Truck, Value for money, and Editor’s Choice.
At least 17 different automobiles from 12 other manufacturers were also there in the final lineup of candidates. Then the contestants put up in Santa Clarita for a week of in-person assessment. They take each device out on country roads, to Willow Springs International Motorsports Park, and on dusty mountain trails to get a feel for it. The team’s experienced editors studied the benefits and downsides of each product before voting for winners in each category.
