Which Hyundai is the most fun car to drive of the year?

Not only is auto show season in full swing, but so is automotive award season. Tons of prestigious publications are announcing the winners of their annual awards and highlighting vehicles that they think stand tall above the rest of the field. According to Cars.com, one of the most well-known automotive resources on the internet, the 2020 Hyundai Veloster N is the Most Fun-to-Drive Car of the Year.

How does a vehicle win this award?

Each year, Cars.com gives this award to a vehicle that is defined by how fun it is to drive, rather than some of the other aspects typically looked at by committees handing out awards. This year, the Veloster N toppled such competitors as the 2020 Ford Mustang and Jeep Wrangler. That’s stiff competition, but our Hyundai model came out on top. We thought we’d highlight some of the things that likely helped the Veloster N win the award.

The Veloster N was literally designed with fun-to-drive in mind, so that certainly helped. Engineers didn’t necessarily look right at the numbers and performance analytics of the vehicle but rather focused on creating a vehicle that had the ability to increase the driver’s heartbeats per minute. They certainly accomplished that, creating a vehicle with exciting cornering abilities and a racetrack feel each time you slide behind the wheel.

One thing that certainly helped the Veloster N on its path to this award was, of course, its 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. Capable of generating 275 horsepower alongside 260 pound-feet of torque, fun-to-drive hardly begins to cover it.
