There were a lot of changes to the Santa Fe family of vehicles for the new model year, not the least of which had to do with the models’ names. What used to be known simply as the Santa Fe, a three-row midsize crossover, is now called the Santa Fe XL while the former Santa Fe Sport has dropped the last word of its name and simply become the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe in Palm Bay FL. The name change isn’t the only thing different for the Santa Fe models this year, however, as it was completely redesigned in order to enter a new generation.
First introduced for the 2001 model year, the Santa Fe has undergone a battery of improvements and changes through the years. All in all, it has seen three different generations up until now as it enters its fourth.
It would be difficult to cover everything that’s changed for the fourth generation Santa Fe in one blog, as there are just so many enhancements throughout the vehicle. Everything from the design, to the cabin space to the technologies it offers has been revamped and improved, bringing us the best Santa Fe model to hit the market yet. While we can’t cover everything that’s new, we’ll certainly highlight a few of the big changes.
Everybody likes to hear about new technologies, which is why Hyundai SmartSense is such a big deal. The full suite of safety tech is installed on the Santa Fe, with many of the features being standard and only a couple needing to be opted. But infotainment was updated as well, introducing the newest AVN 5.0 operating system with a 7” screen. You can even opt for the Infinity premium audio system which features 12 speakers and a 630-watt amplifier.
