On today’s market, hybrid vehicles are more prominent and popular than ever before. The Hyundai lineup itself offers multiple options to choose from, not the least of which is the 2019 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid in Melbourne FL. While the Ioniq might get a lot of the buzz today, the Sonata Hybrid is still an incredibly efficient and stylish sedan option available to you.
Although the Hyundai Sonata was first introduced all the way back in 1985, it wasn’t until 2010 that the Sonata Hybrid entered production. It went on sale as the 2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid and has been a huge part of the lineup ever since. While there are other hybrid options available on the lineup now, the Sonata Hybrid remains an integral part of the family. It was most recently refreshed for the 2018 model year, and we anticipate it entering the eighth generation for 2020 alongside its gas-powered counterpart, if not the following year.
After the mid-generation refresh the Sonata Hybrid just received in 2018 and looking forward to the generational redesign that will soon follow, not much changed for 2019 – unsurprisingly. The only difference is four features now being standard on the Limited trim level. Those features include: Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keeping Assist, Smart Cruise Control with start/stop and Electronic Parking Brake with auto vehicle hold.
One wouldn’t expect the Sonata Hybrid to be the most powerful vehicle on the lineup, but surprisingly it does pack a powerful punch, generating a combined hybrid system output of 193 horsepower! Along with that, the hybrid sedan achieves 40 miles per gallon through the city and 46 mpg on the highway if it’s the SE trim level, subtracting just a couple of mpg total if upgraded to the Limited trim.
