The 2020 model year has been a big one for Hyundai, with a cavalcade of brand-new and all-new vehicles coming to the lineup. Of course, not every vehicle could be radically redesigned, but that didn’t stop engineers for trying. For instance, one year removed from a mid-generation facelift, the 2020 Hyundai Elantra in Melbourne FL has still undergone some small changes to introduce new content to shoppers and keep things exciting!
The Hyundai Elantra was first introduced a whopping thirty years ago in 1990, and in 2015 it entered its sixth generation. As mentioned, just last year it underwent a facelift to introduce a fresh sedan without completely overhauling the vehicle. Now? Its powertrain has received some updates, and more features are standard than ever before.
The biggest change for the Elantra this year is discontinuation of the model’s manual transmission and replacement of its 6-speed automatic transmission with the brand’s new Smartstream Intelligent Variable Transmission. This enables the Elantra to achieve an extra 2 miles per gallon combined across the board, affecting each and every trim level equipped with the IVT. The 7-speed Dual Clutch transmission is still an available option in the Eco and Sport trims.
In addition to the transmission system changes, a host of other features have become standard as well. They include dual-automatic temperature control, a 3.5” mono TFT cluster display, Efficient Positive Temperature Coefficient Electric Heater (when equipped with the 2.0L engine), Engine Idle Stop & Go (in the Eco trim level), a dual shell horn and three new SmartSense features: Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist and Driver Attention Warning.
In addition to tons of returning specs & features which you can read about around our website, there was one other exciting change for the 2020 model year: the addition of five new exterior color options! They include Shimmering Silver Pearl, Stellar Silver, Calypso Red, Fluid Metal and Portofino Gray.
